SIMACHALAM
Simhachalam

INDIRA GANDHI ZOOLOGICAL PARK
The
Indira Gandhi Zoological park stretched over 635 acres
of land is located 9 km from the city center. The Zoo
which houses around 80 species of birds and animals
caged is bounded by Eastern Ghats on the three sides
and the Bay of Bengal on the east. It is one of the
largest zoo parks in Andhra Pradesh. The well planned
layout of the zoo has different enclosures for primates,
carnivores, lesser carnivores, small mammals and birds
close to the natural habitats. The wildlife variety
ranges from common langur, mandrills, olive baboons,
wolves, jackals to Himalayan black beer, terrapins,
water monitor lizards, crocodile and hippo.
KAILASAGIRI
This
lushly green park over a 130 mts high hill overlooking
the Bay of Bengal. Could your soul ask for more? The
presence of Giant statues of the celestial couple, Siva
& Parvathi, makes Kailasagiri a must to visit list.
The Place also offers a breathtaking view at night -
a million lights and the enchanting waves further away.
Other highlights include: Rope-way to the hill, art
gallery, air- conditioned conference hall, a capsule
lift to the highest view point, food court, art gallery
and souvenir shops.
ROPEWAY
Yet
another highpoint of Kailasagiri, the rope way is the
third route to the Kailasagiri hill top. It's a first
of its kind in Andhra Pradesh as well as in the whole
of Costal India. It offers a 360 degree view from the
fiber glass cabins while traveling up and down 375 mts
rope-way. In addition, a circular train project provides
a bird,s eye view of whole of vizag.
VUDA PARK
Vuda
Park alias Taraka Rama Rao, located near Rama Krishna
Beach is one of the most attractive leisure spot in
Visakhapatnam. The park, named after the former Chief
Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri. N.T.Rama Rao has boating
& swimming facilities, two roller skating rink, camel
& horse riding, artificial caves, beautiful long lawns,
flower gardens and a children park. The play pen in
the park has 3000 plastic balls and boxing bags. The
dancing musical fountain in the Vuda Park provided wholesome
entertainment to visitors.
VISAKHA MUSEUM
Located
on R.K. Beach Road,Visakha Museum gives a vivid picture
of its historic moorings through a rare collections
of artifacts, inscriptions and previous historic documents.
KURUSURA SUBMARINE MUSEUM
Yet
another landmark of Visakhapatnam. The first of its
kind in the whole South Asia, INS Kurusura Submarine
is a soviet built 1641 class submarine. It was introduced
into the Indian Navy on 18th December 1969 and decommissioned
on 28th February 2001 after 31 years of glorious service
to the nation. One can now view this classy submarine
here at this museum, the complete Submarine including
its weapon packages is hauled - up - from sea to land
and positioned on a concrete foundation here.
RAMAKRISHNA BEACH
Ramakrishna
Beach is the most popular beach of Visakhapatnam. With
its serene waters and tranquil atmosphere, the beach
offers a lovely vista of the countryside. In the past
